Two-State Investigation Leads Police to Drug, Weapons Stash in Philly
WEST TRENTON – An investigation on a major shipment of marijuana case led the authorities to another location with more amount of the drug.
At a New Jersey freight depot, authorities found 300 pounds of pot and took 2 Philadelphia men into custody which assisted them in knowing the location with 4 more pounds of marijuana and weapons stash.
37-year-old Hasan Bacon and 38-year-old Michael Staine were arrested from the delivery location. They both were charged for:
- Unlawful possession of a firearm.
- Distribution of marijuana.
The New Jersey State Police got a hint that the drug will be sent to Philadelphia, so they made a controlled delivery in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.
The investigation led them to another location where they found the drug with the weapons including:
- Mossberg 500 12-gauge shotgun.
- Henry .22-caliber rifle.
- Remington 1187 12-gauge shotgun.
- Bushmaster AR-15 rifle.
- Weatherby .306 rifle.
- Glock 43 9 mm handgun.
- Glock 19 9 mm handgun.
- Sig Sauer P229 handgun.
- Springfield XD .40-caliber handgun.
According to Col. Patrick Callahan of the New Jersey State Police, the chances of seized weapons utilized for violence are less.
The bail of Staine was set at $500,000 and for Bacon, it was $60,000.
