39-Year-Old Brooklyn Man Pleads Guilty In Route 440 Fatal DUI Crash
MIDDLESEX COUNTY — On the 6th of September 2017, an accident that occurred on Route 440 left an Ocean Township man dead and 3 other individuals injured as a person was behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer while impaired.
Aleksander Isserovich was taken into custody and charged after the case was investigated by New Jersey State Trooper Rafael Castro and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Donald Heck.
Facts of the Case
He was going in his tractor-trailer on Route 440 south when he struck a Hyundai Sonata. The collision sent the Sonata into another vehicle and the tractor-trailer hit 2 other vehicles as well.
45-year-old Jason Appio was behind the wheel of the Sonata. He sustained serious injuries due to which he died at the accident spot. Isserovich sustained injuries and was rushed to Raritan Bay Medical Center-Perth Amboy Division.
The individuals behind the wheel of 3 other vehicles involved in the accident sustained injuries for which they were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
The Charges
On Thursday, Isserovich pleaded no contest to the charges of:
- DUI
- One count of death by auto in the second degree
- Three counts of assault by auto in the fourth degree
He will be sentenced on the 18th of May and if convicted, he will serve a 7 years prison sentence.
